Special Acoustic Event and the Winter Burn - This Weekend!

Winter Burn 2021: Bubble Gum & Duct Tape

With Winter Burn, we welcome 2021 buoyed by a measure of hope and optimism, perhaps with a touch of caution. The Ten Principles serve as our framework for how we want to live and do things together. We chose a theme: Bubble Gum & Duct Tape.

When you ponder this theme, think about what makes things stick together, if it helps. Love, support, respect, chain, a guy rope, tie, wire, clasp, screws, nails, bandage, cord, harness ... and of course, Bubble Gum and Duct Tape. Basically, think outside of the box, beyond bubble gum & duct tape.

Life has begun to stir on the virtual playa. Trucks are hauling in the prims needed for infrastructure and various builds. Interesting creations are sprouting up out of the frosty dust. Performers are booking their slots for the stages. Preparations are well under way!

The event opens on the 29th of January at 5:00 PM SLT, when the Lamplighters will arrive with their usual fiery enthusiasm for a walk-on. Everyone is welcome to walk along on a tour of the art installations and camps until finally arriving at the Main Stage. Lamplighters love to let loose a little fire to properly start things off, and start they do with music and much dancing!

AND on Thursday, January 28th...

All proceeds from this event will benefit Burn2, which is a nonprofit regional of Burning Man.

Burn2 - The Multiverse

Some memories - October 2020. My Build; "No Planet B". You are invited to hold the poem, "Remember" and take the wormhole teleport up into the Earth to read. The Earth appears on fire and the bottom is gone. Chaos appears to to be the message. But inside the Earth you sit in quite with the sounds of nature, the smell of the forest, and digest the poem. You see in the corner of the universe, there is a piece that you call home:)

Remember
by Joy Harjo
l

Remember the sky that you were born under,
know each of the star’s stories.
Remember the moon, know who she is.

Remember the sun’s birth at dawn, that is the
strongest point of time.

Remember sundown
and the giving away tonight.

Remember your birth, how your mother struggled
to give you form and breath. You are evidence of
her life, and her mother’s, and hers.

Remember your father. He is your life, also.

Remember the earth whose skin you are:
red earth, black earth, yellow earth, white earth
brown earth, we are earth.

Remember the plants, trees, animal life who all have their
tribes, their families, their histories, too. Talk to them,
listen to them. They are alive poems.

Remember the wind. Remember her voice. She knows the
origin of this universe.

Remember you are all people and all people
are you.

Remember you are this universe and this
universe is you.

Remember all is in motion, is growing, is you.

Remember language comes from this.

Remember the dance language is, that life is.

Remember.

Burn2 rose up from the dust in 2007, became a virtual Regional in 2010 and is the oldest of the recognized universes in the Multiverse of Burning Man in Real Life. This year's theme, The Multiverse, presents interesting interpretation opportunities within the framework of the Ten Principles of Burning Man and the builder guidelines.

Visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for participant guidelines.

The plot sale continues! But don’t wait too long
— the build period ends on the 5th of October. If
you are an artist, a builder or a dusty camper,
come, get a plot and create your own universe in
Burn2’s Multiverse or a comfy little camp to relax
and enjoy the dust, tunes and art everywhere.
Where to get your own plot? Visit Plot Sales

Lack of funds? Apply for the Plottery
If you find you are unable to afford a plot, but
you want a place to call your home on the playa,
you can sign up for the Burn2 Plot Lottery. In
keeping with our gifting tradition, we have a
limited number of 512 square meter plots with a
maximum LI of 156.

No Such Thing as Bystanders in The Multiverse

The moment you step onto the dusty playa, you are not a mere spectator, you’re part of the spectacle: Welcome Home! At our greeter gate we have many free gifts to help gear up for the playa.

SHARE the News and Plan to Come!

We look forward to welcoming Home Burners and the community. Experience Burn2 once again, walk through the gate, and if you are a virgin Burner, ring the bell and get your playa dust angel wings! Follow the Lamplighters on their twice-daily processions; visit the Rangers, view the Man and meditate in the Temple. Wander, explore, climb, interact.

Visit three official stages and many performance camps with music to soothe, inspire, excite and incite to dance. You will be surrounded by art, music, fire and welcoming Burners! See the (continuously updated) BURN2 Calendar at https://www.burn2.org/event-calendar/ for the week’s event schedule.
